DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER OFFERS CONGRATULATIONS AT ASEAN BUSINESS AWARDS 2020

16 November 2020

At the ASEAN Business Awards (ABA) 2020, Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh attended and offered meaningful congratulations to the award winners. The Deputy Prime Minister also highly appreciated the organisers of the award as it honoured the best values of ASEAN businesses, especially in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic and recent weather disasters.

Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh presents "For the development of ASEAN business in 2020" to Mrs. Nguyen Thi Nga, Chair of ABA 2020 and Chair of BRG Group.

At the event, DPM Binh highly appreciated the ASEAN economic community for carrying out its job well in the face of current difficulties. He shared: “Our ASEAN region is facing unprecedented challenges caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, and natural disasters including floods and landslides bringing hardship to people and business. In that context, our business community has made great efforts to overcome difficulties, contribute to disease prevention, and help businesses adapt with the new normal.”

For businesses that won ABA 2020 awards, DPM Binh offered his congratulations for the excellence displayed, especially in the context of the whole ASEAN region facing unprecedented challenges. “I am delighted to see that the award categories cover the most affected private sectors, including categories for micro, small, and medium-sized businesses, young businesses, female-led businesses, and family businesses,” DPM Binh explained. “It was especially important this year to have a category honouring businesses that actively prevent, combat, and overcome Covid-19 to continue to operate effectively and sustainably. I urge the ASEAN Business Advisory Council (ASEAN BAC) to continue to create more initiatives to promote regional economic cooperation.”

The success of ABA 2020 has shown that the ASEAN business community is showing solidarity, an outstanding stature, and is holding an important position in its development.

This was the second time that Vietnam has hosted the event, with the first being in 2010. Mrs. Nguyen Thi Nga, Member of ASEAN BAC Vietnam and Chair of BRG Group, has played a pivotal part on both occasions. With her understanding of the ASEAN business community, she brought this year’s awards great value, spreading the strength of the business community towards the influence of Covid-19.

Mrs. Nga shared: “Congratulations to the 58 businesses and entrepreneurs who have won at ABA 2020. You are the pride of the regional economic community and deserve the greatest honor from this year's award. However, you also have a great responsibility as you now represent the ASEAN economic community in continuing to demonstrate the bravery of business development, continuing to raise the level of enterprises, and spreading the outstanding value of the ABA."

At the event, on behalf of the Government of Vietnam, Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh highly appreciated the ASEAN BAC for successfully organizing the event ceremony at the framework of the 37th ASEAN Summit. In addition, the DPM Binh suggested that ASEAN businesses should be more proactive, focusing on digital transformation and digital technology application in production development, as well as actively responding to future challenges.
